yey ^^ now I just have to, you know, make a thread.
as for my "impressive" amount of world stuff, that's because I've written maybe 6-7 "versions" of this story. I tell you, no matter when I start it or who the main character is, I always have some sort of revelation on laws of magic, species, geography, or summat and then my evilness insists that I either A) edit whole thing to fit new idea or B) re-write the whole thing occasionally using old scenes. These usually happen A) when I am out of school and B) my friends are not there to whack me over the head with the nearest object and howl in frustration. They're so patient with me ^^. Latest version was the result of me moving back to the US and having far too much time on my hands. THIS IS THE LAST VERSION, I SWEAR IT BY MY KITTEN'S HEAD!
kitten: >> << *runs away*

Actually if you want to use the forums, by all means do so. I wouldn't delete it if people were actually using it. It's safe as long as someone's posting or I'm too busy/lazy to bother removing the links to it.

Considering that the forun is currently endangered, we might be better off using one of those you mentioned or even (gasp!) resort to email. It doesn't really matter to me, though.

Mm..I've considered fictionpress.com, but I don't have anything I like enough to actually post it on the interweb just yet. I'm kinda a perfectionist when it comes to writing - good for my stories, not so much for deadlines.

Oh, I DO have world-specific stuff on paper - just not the stories themselves. My world's actually fairly detailed on paper (not quite to the extent you went to on your site - that was damn impressive), but I just haven't had time to start writing down the actual stories. At this point, I'm pretty much writing things down and revising later, just so I have it all down somewhere.

yeah, that tends to happen *has no inner Luddite* It helps if you join something like paperdemon.com, writing.com, or fictionpress.com, because then you can just publish it online without having to worry about a website. I, personally, have drawn away from all three for various reasons. The only reason I have my own website is because freewebs is free. You don't really have to maintain it. I first put it up so I could access all my info (language, timeline, blahs) from the school computers without using a pendrive. another option is just to throw whatever you can out on paper and shove it at your best friend. They're more likely to give you real honest feedback.
when I say throw whatever you can I don't necessarily mean chapters or even summaries. World info, magic rules, government, religion, timeline. Basic stuff like I did with Z1D0N (www.Z1D0N.proboards111.com) when I was plotting out a webcomic (that neve got off the ground) with a friend. Setting out stuff like that makes it easier later on and keeps you from the ever-so-tempting deus ex machina.
As for it not turning out on paper like it does in your head, I've found that's just one of the things you have to live with. Sometimes you just have to smack your head against a wall and keep moving. The one (big) difference between writing and comics is that in writing you have to leave most of the imagery up to the reader. You physically cannot beam to them exactly what you want, you just have to hope that they're similarly minded. If they don't see the rich colors and textures that you do, that's their problem, not yours.
...
we should probrably move this convo somewhere else before the blog it's attached to gets bumped off the main page... I have a deviant art, the Z1D0N chatroom, and a RPing chat room if you don't have a preference.

Yeah, that would be because a) my inner Luddite fears anything that even resembles a blog (I think I think that my minimal computer skillz aren't enough to keep a website running smoothly) and b) the mini sorcerorpunk epic that I've been writing in my mind for the past few years apparently doesn't transfer onto actual paper well. I've got part of a rough draft but it's so rough that it makes sandpaper look like silk.

*twiddles her thumbs*

Sooo..yeah.

I tried poking your name, but there's a noted lack of red.

Ooh, another writer... I saw the red glow of a website link on your name, but I haven't had the time to actually poke it (my calculus teacher is trying to kill me). Hmm...
