In relation to your comment about ending early I can only think of one response: Do not do it! Do not even Think about doing it! Do not even think about NOT doing it!

Okay, The Rift has not been updated in over a month.
I miss Rift updates.
It makes me wonder if you are just extremely busy or going through hard times. Either way, I hope you are alright.

Rift is by far one of the best storys out there, yet Thunderstruck was too, seems it the season for closing as of lately, that or delays becuase of various reasons.
No matter what, Rift will be my view point be a glorious chapther in every readers life, and personally, it's one of the things i look forward too updating.

I haven't been reading it for all that long, and I will admit I stumbled upon Cuanta Vida first, however, I do quite enjoy this comic, and it is easily one of my favorites.

Like the others, your reasoning does make perfect sense. When you feel it's time to end it, that is when it's time to end.

I've been reading this comic for a long time, and I still love it. I read it pretty much every day, even if I don't comment. Other comics, my interest wanes from time to time, but never with this.

Having said that, I suppose I can understand why you're ending early - I know what it's like to feel ignored. As a writer, I think that if you feel that you can sufficiently tell your story and get a certain amount of closure then go ahead and end early, so long as you have other projects lying around for us to visit. It'll be sad, but I know how you feel, and I'll certainly miss the comic.

I've always enjoyed your comic and have wondered why it is under-appreciated by the lack of comments. From a writer's perspective, you tell a great story and have some great characters, though a bit many. I'll miss this story when it is gone, but I understand your reasons.

Every show I've ever really liked was canceled due to poor ratings. I place the fault of this squarely on the fact that I have way better sense than roughly 72.3% of the American population.

Your comic has been a part of my complete webcomics breakfast for, wait...3 years? Really? 3 years. Whoa. So, yeah, while I'd miss it, I understand if you need to move on creatively and try a new venture (I'm still curious as to what you had planned with those concept characters with the cute librarian girls, owls, and was that guy a pan?). However, please, if you end it, make what you have a complete story, in and of itself. What I mean is, if you are sure you aren't coming back to it, don't leave major loose ends hanging (the androids' origins still seem unexplained and the Tzen's sister thing come to mind). Y'know, if you can avoid it.

I've also personally found that when you stop telling a story that you had been working on for a long time, the characters continue to live on in your head. And from time to time, during the rigmarole of the semi-adult life you attempt to lead, they will crop up in the back of your skull and ask you why you haven't taken the time to pick the project back up and you feel really bad because you don't have a good answer for them. This might be one of those things that only I experience though because, well, I might be mentally unsound. And yet, I still have better taste in entertainment than the majority of our nation.
